It is a group work made by Selene Catena, Giuliano Vaccai, Silvia Patron, Camilla Ambrosi, Xiru Sun and Xinyi Li.The project takes shape through an audiovisual installation in which the dramatic event of November 12, 2019 affecting the city of Venice is repeated. The meteorological data of that day were converted into visual and sound form. Our work was selected for exhibition at PANORAMAS EXPO 2021.
Between June 15 and June 18, 2021, the exhibition PANORAMAS EXP, PANORAMAS 2021 was held at the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain.
"The event brings together three international events: SIIMI - 8th International Symposium on Innovation in Interactive Media -, # 20.ART - 20th. International Meeting of Art and Technology - and BunB - 8th. Balance Unbalance, which meet to establish an overview of the state of scientific research and social technologies aimed at sustainability, the arts and digital culture.
The event took place between lectures, panels, workshops and an art exhibition, in digital and physical environments, with'a panoramic device as a support for the works designed in that specific format. The exhibition was curated by the research group "Laboratorio de Luz" of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Its central element is a semi-panoramic projection on a cylindrical screen in which selected video projects are projected, whose theme focuses on WATER, as a common element, essential for life and directly involved with environmental problems and global warming. More than 40 artists from various countries, USA, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Uruguay are participating."
The working group 01_B1_B2 composed of Selene Catena, Giuliano Vaccai, Silvia Patron, Camilla Ambrosi, Xiru Sun and Xinyi Li and coordinated by Liliana Fracasso and Samir Sayed Abdellattef, for the course of Multimedia Design 20/21 - Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, proposed and conceived the visual "Sirens at Drift"
which was subsequently selected for exhibition at PANORAMAS EXPO 2021.
The project takes shape through an audiovisual installation in which the dramatic event of November 12, 2019 that involved the city of Venice is replayed. The meteorological data for that day have been converted into visual and sound form. The visual wants to propose a reflection/action on the damaging effect of human/industrial/economic activity with respect to specific areas of the Venice lagoon, the Barene, which are characterized precisely by the importance and, simultaneously, the fragility of their ecosystems. Barena areas are highly important to preserve the whole lagoon ecosystem and, if properly protected, would be able to contribute to the reduction of disastrous events such as "L'Acqua Granda" of November 12, 2019, where in Venice the water level reached 187 cm.
