CHILLI is a short film with experimental meaning consisting of 5 scenes: outdoors, living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. There is only one actress in the whole short film, who tells about her sad working career and a love story for a girl that intertwines with it.
The main purpose of this shortfilm is to explore the changing role of women in different spaces, because when most people talk about this topic, they are discussing their role in different public settings (such as the workplace) while the shortfilm mainly explores the role of women in family spaces.
The short film begins with the protagonist looking back to say goodbye to her colleague, leaving work and heading home after another exhausting day. She has perfect makeup on and is wearing a red coat, which is particularly noticeable and in contrast to the environment. Red is a color that can often represent women, as in the choice of coat color taken from the American series The Handmaid's Tale (2017-) in which the handmaids' costumes have a very visible color, symbolizing the blood of menstruation and the subsequent birth of a child (in the series only a few chosen women are still fertile and used to deliver the few children in an increasingly polluted world). Returning to "Chilli" the 'red' element appears constantly throughout the short film, such as the pillow on the couch, the color of chili peppers and the flowers on the bathroom wall.
As an interior location I chose a typical Venetian 'house', which is connected to the calli that the protagonist crosses on her way home from work. As soon as she opens the door and enters the house, she enters a more intimate and personal space in which the mask of politeness that she was wearing until a few hours before is dropped.
